THE SILK
Silk is generally regarded as the most beautiful and elegant natural fabric. It consists of natural protein fibres produced by the cocoon of the silkworm Bombyx mori and is the only continuous fibre found in nature. Only the thread of Bombyx Mori is processed into the coveted, soft and fine silk fibre that is used in industry. Because of its numerous and outstanding product properties, silk is one of the most remarkable high-performance materials. For more than a century, attempts have been made to produce a synthetic substitute for silk, but so far not a single synthetic fibre has managed to achieve even close to the amazing properties and applications of silk.

COMFORT AND WELL-BEING
Silk offers the highest wearing comfort and well-being of all textile fabrics.

Silk fibres consist of proteins (fibroin) and are very close to human skin in their composition. Silk is fine, light and smooth. With an average diameter of 11 microns (0.011 mm), silk is especially smooth and soft on the skin and most comfortable to wear of all textile fibres.

NOBLE & BEAUTIFUL
Silk is an exclusive fabric that has an irresistibly beautiful and noble effect. The natural irregular surface of the silk yarn gives the fabric a unique appearance.

AIR-CONDITIONING
Silk has optimal temperature-balancing and moisture-regulating properties: it warms in the cold and cools in the heat. Silk can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without being damp and releasing it back into the environment quickly. That's why silk dries very quickly. In cold weather silk warms the skin without applying. Silk allows the skin to breathe and thus enables a feeling of physical well-being. Therefore silk can be worn very well in summer as well as in winter.

HYPOALLERGENIC & ANTIBACTERIAL
Silk is anti-bacterial and anti-fungicidal. Since silk is very permeable to air and water, it does not provide a germ environment for bacteria and fungi. The excellent diffusion behaviour of silk does not allow it to settle anyway. Silk is pure , dirt-repellent and insensitive to odours. Especially people with sensitive skin appreciate the antibacterial, anti-allergic and skin-friendly effect of silk.

UV PROTECTION
Silk has a relatively high natural UV protection factor, which can be between 20 and 30 UPF, depending on the colour. The matting fibre components of the silk reflect and absorb UV rays.

CARE LIGHT
Silk is dirt-repellent, odourless and crease-resistant. Contrary to many prejudices, silk is easy to clean and iron.

SUSTAINABLE & ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
Silk is a sustainable natural fibre that does not harm the environment and people, from the production of silk to its disposal, and is healthy for people to wear on their skin. Furthermore, silk is 100% biodegradable.
